Every part goes through the same steps, from coarse to fine. Skipping one is how you end up with swirl marks.
Remove clear coat, paint and oxidation. Check for pitting and damage.
Level scratches and casting marks until the surface is uniform.
Finer sanding takes out the marks left by the coarse pass.
A sisal or spiral wheel with cutting compound brings up the first shine.
A soft cotton wheel with fine rouge leaves the final mirror, then we seal it.
